Peter is a United States Marine with a service connected disability
who served from 1978 to 1982. He entered Liberty House in
July 2010 and successfully graduated from the program in February
2012. Before entering Liberty House, Peter abused drugs, lost
several front teeth, and lived on the streets.
During his time at Liberty House, Peter
was elected president of the resident
community and presided admirably
during meetings that included
impassioned debates between other
residents. As presiding officer,
Peter helped keep these meetings
from escalating out of hand, and
set an exemplary model for other
Peter enrolled in college classes and took a job at a local café
where he quickly established himself as the most productive and
dependable employee. His success continues as he was selected
for permanent employment there. After graduating from Liberty
House, he moved into his own apartment.
Peter still visits Liberty House from time to time and continues
to present a positive example of the potential for success in
this program. In 2012, he got his dental workup completed and
frequently flashes a broad, confident grin.
