In-Home and Family Support
In Home and Family Support provides small grants for
families and clients with mental retardation or autism living at home, with disability
related expenses. The grant amount is based upon need and financial resources and
may be granted annually or as a one-time payment.
Funding is limited to no more than $2,500 a year, per recipient.
Examples of services or items funded are: adaptive aids, specialized equipment,
minor home modifications, respite, therapy services and home care services.
Eligibility

Must live in Tarrant County

Must have a diagnosis of mental retardation, autism, or pervasive developmental
disorder

Must show proof of Tarrant County residency

Must live in their own home or family's home

Must have a diagnosis of mental retardation, autism, pervasive developmental disorder
or, if youger than 4 years have a diagnosed developmental delay.

IHFS is funded as a service of last resort. If there is another option for
funding, this program cannot cover the cost. The consumer cannot be enrolled
in a Medicaid Waiver Program.
- The consumer, if over 18 years, or the family, if the consumer is under 18 years,
must meet the finacial eligibility of an adjusted gross income of less than 150%
of the current Texas Median Income level.
