Stevie Hansen described herself as super mom.
“I was using methamphetamines and alcohol, tequila” Stevie said.
Using drugs and alcohol was an escape. That almost led to the end.
“I had lost almost everything my family, my job, everything that had meaning to me in my life.”
That’s when Stevie learned about MHMR. That was 26 years ago.
“It absolutely saved my life,” she said.
Stevie went through MHMR’s detoxification program and joined peer groups.
When a job opened, she debated if she could work for where she received treatment.
She hasn’t looked back since. She keeps looking up.
Stevie has been the chief of MHMR’s Addiction Services program for 10 years. She has expanded the addiction outreach and included outreach and advocacy for veterans to her role.
“It all starts with a phone call,” Stevie advised. “We do screenings and assessments to anyone in Tarrant County who may need help. We’ll find the services that are right for you.”
